Pet Protective Film Production Process and Film Change Matters

  • Several of my friends have asked me a question about the production process of high quality PET protective film. So I looked for some information on this on the internet and also asked the head of our production department and finally wrote this article to share what I know. Before I do so, I would like you to follow me to understand what high quality PET protective film really is.

"It is a chemical material called polyethylene terephthalate (PET). It is a transparent film made by the condensation polymerisation of terephthalic acid with ethylene glycol. This is the material used to make the Coke bottles we often see on the market. The following is a brief introduction to the production process of high quality PET protective film.

The first step is to produce the base material for the high quality PET protective film by means of a blow moulding machine or a cast machine.

The second step is to corona treat the surface of our substrate to form reactive groups, forming a layer of very small pits on the surface of the substrate to enhance the adhesion of the surface.

The third step is to configure the glue.

The fourth step is to apply the configured glue to the surface of our previously produced substrate using a coating machine and then dry.

Step five is the winding of the dried protective film.

step six the rolled-up protective film needs to be cooked.

I don't know if the industry partners have these confusions, that is, when your customer needs a certain protective film, the thickness of the layer used is OK, the viscosity is medium to high viscosity above you meet his standards, but the bottom film is too thin. Since the customer's requirement is for a good peel, we all know that a high quality PET protective film with a high viscosity will not peel well, and the thinner the base film the worse it will be. The thinner the base film, the worse it is to peel. And it just so happens that your customer has this situation will you choose to give up?

I asked our engineer about this and he said that if you encounter this situation, you can choose to change the film if the conditions allow. In other words, you can remove the thin, high quality PET protective film and replace it with a thicker release film.

Some of our customers may be very resistant to changing the film, and some may ask, "You won't have problems with dust, scratches and so on with this high quality PET protective film, will you? I'll say this, I can't say that there are no problems, after all, there are still risks, but in the case of Xinhao protective film manufacturers in mature technology, there are very few problems, so it can be said that changing the film is also a good solution, right?

If you are troubled by something similar, I hope this article can give you some inspiration, something that obviously works is not to try, and miss the opportunity to work with customers should also be very unfortunate, why not boldly try something? As for the production process of PET protective film, in the end pet protective film is actually a protective film made from a pet substrate and then coated with adhesive on one side. Some of the core processes are related to the interests of the company, so I'm sorry I can't announce them to you.
